50-Year-Old ‘Big Sexy’ Bartolo Colon Is Back on the Mound - Mediaite

“Big Sexy” is pitching again at age 50.

Bartolo Colon is one of several ex-MLB players who have joined Baseball United, a Dubai-based league that commenced its inaugural season on Friday with its “All-Star Showcase.”

In a viral video, the big man retired former big leaguers Robinson Cano, (groundout) Alejandro De Aza (strikeout) and Didi Gregorius (groundout) in what was the first inning in the history of the league.

Over 21-season major league career, Colon racked up 247 wins while pitching for 11 teams before retiring in 2018 at age 45. He earned the Cy Young Award in 2005. As notable as that achievement was, Colon will be remembered for his first and only big league home run, which he hit in 2016 at the age of 43.

In his Baseball United debut, Colon gave up two earned runs in three innings while striking out three and walking one.
