Even Bad Bunny gets by with a little help from his friends... But his friend happens to be three-time Emmy nominee and certified "internet daddy," Pedro Pascal.
While pulling double duty as the Saturday Night Live host and musical guest, Bad Bunny a.k.a. Benito Antonio MartÃnez Ocasio kicked off his monologue by addressing those who question his ability to lead the show.
"People are wondering if I can host this show because English is not my first language," said the singer. "I don't know if they know, but I do whatever I want."
After clarifying that he can indeed do anything in English — including McDonalds orders, sex, and hosting SNL — Bad Bunny switched to Spanish. But after changing the subtitles from "Speaking in Non-English" to "Speaking a Sexier Language," he decided to put his trust in a translator: "I want to bring up my friend to help. Pedro?"
While the audience was pleased to see Pascal back on the SNL stage, his translation skills left much to be desired. After Bad Bunny delivers a long, detailed spiel in Spanish with Pascal nodding along, the actor boils it all down to a single (and not unbiased) sentence: "He says he's blessed to be here with my favorite actor Pedro Pascal."
Pivoting instead to offering his friend advice, Pascal — who made his own hosting debut in February amid joint hype from The Last of Us and The Mandalorian — instead offered Bad Bunny some monologue advice. "It's always charming when you make a self-deprecating joke," Pascal suggested, and when the King of Latin Trap seemed confused, explained, "It's like you make a joke about a part of your body or face that's unflattering."
"I don't have any," the musician eventually said.
Prompted to show an embarrassing photo instead, Bad Bunny pulled out a thirst trap. How exactly is that embarrassing? "Because I forgot to put on clothes!"
Pascal was not the only cameo featured that night. Studio 8H also welcomed Lady Gaga, Mick Jagger, and Fred Armisen — but perhaps the most notable appearance of the night was returning SNL star, Protective Mom.
Pascal reprised his meme-able character from earlier this year, donning the wig and glasses as a disapproving mother looking to get rid of her son's new girlfriend. This time around, the protective mom has backup with Bad Bunny playing the poor kid's aunt, who also has nothing good to say about his girlfriend.
You can watch Bad Bunny and Pedro Pascal join forces for an SNL monologue and sketch in the clips above.
