Shawn Mendes has come a very long way since posting short videos of himself singing in the defunct Vine website – which was basically TikTok before the creation of TikTok.
Since his widely successful debut, 2015’s Handwritten, Mendes has gone on to release three other studio albums: 2016’s Illuminate, 2018’s Shawn Mendes, and 2020’s Wonder. His most popular songs include the no. 1 hit “Señorita” (featuring his ex-girlfriend Camila Cabello) as well as “If I Can’t Have You,” “Stitches,” “Treat You Better,” and “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.”
With nearly 70 million followers on Instagram, 42 million listeners on Spotify, and 11 billion views between all of his videos on YouTube, Mendes’ popularity has reached an all-time high in 2022. However, the singer has struggled to keep up with the growing demands of his career. In June 2022, Mendes kicked off Wonder: The World Tour in Portland, Oregon. He managed to do six more scheduled shows, but then resorted to postponing all future dates. After that initial postponement, Mendes decided to completely cancel the rest of the tour citing mental health issues.
Fortunately, the singer seems like hes doing better and was recently spotted in Miami celebrating his 24th birthday at the beach and certain local nightclubs.
