Beautiful? Good. Sexy? Not so much.

Pro soccer player Ana Maria Markovic has been called the “world’s most beautiful footballer” but doesn’t want to be branded the “sexiest.”
“I liked the articles that called me the most beautiful footballer or one of the most beautiful because it makes me happy to hear that I am beautiful,” Markovic told German publication 20min when asked about a recent article that called her a “blonde bombshell,” according to the Daily Star.

Some ensuing stories, however, changed the descriptor to “sexiest,” which she is not a fan of, explaining that she doesn’t want her loved ones to read about her in that way.

“But then newspaper articles appeared in which I was described as the sexiest footballer,” the 22-year-old said. “I didn’t like that … because of my family.”
Markovic continued: “I think you have to be careful what you write about people. Especially if you have [relatives] that do not know. But overall it wasn’t that bad.”
That said, the Croatian forward, who plays for Swiss Women’s Super League club Grasshoppers, has more than 585,000 followers on Instagram.
Her photos are of both the soccer variety as well as selfies and her living her daily life. And, yes, there’s the odd sexy shot in there.

But that’s where she draws the line.
“Many have also made me feel like I’m pretty and that just because of that you could make something out of me on social media and that they want to make money with it.”
With fame comes unwanted attention from people who want to get in touch with her – but along with beauty, Markovic’s got brains, too.

“After that, a lot of people wrote to me pretending to be managers, and I know exactly what they want from me,” she said. “They’ve never seen me play football and only look at the outside. I find that a great pity. I think such people should find out more beforehand and see what I can do in terms of football.”
