Casper Ruud reveals the secret to his “sexy” forehand in time for hard court return - Tennis Magazine

What’s the first word that comes to mind when you see Casper Ruud strike his signature forehand?

For Credentialed host Nick Monroe, it’s simply “sexy.”

“Whether it’s sexy or not, that’s not up for me to say,” Ruud said with a laugh, but wouldn’t dispute the shot’s efficiency—nor the crucial part it played in helping him make his Top 5 debut in June.

“I’m not the flashiest player, and I don’t do those unbelievable trick shots. I just do a lot of steadiness, heaviness. I have quite a high takeback and just try to rip it. I find it’s always easier to control when you hit it hard rather than soft.”

The 23-year-old rode some explosive forehands into his first major final earlier this spring, finishing runner-up to idol Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros.

“I hadn’t had a big result at a Slam until Roland Garros, and that gave me even more confidence and belief in myself that I can hopefully do it again and play more finals, and that I’m finding my rhythm at the top level in the world.”

Ruud rebounded from a disappointing grass swing to pick up his ninth career title on clay in Gstaad, and now seeks to replicate his revelatory form on hard courts up north in Montréal.

His first title off clay came last summer in San Diego—helping him qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin, where he reached the semifinals—and he began 2022 with a maiden Masters 1000 final in Miami, where he fell to an on-fire Carlos Alcaraz.

Check out the full interview with Ruud, who opens up about his evolving fashion sense and fellow Norwegian sports stars.

The Sandman on Netflix needed a sexy Corinthian — even with those eyes - Polygon

Though it’s at best his second most defining feature, The Sandman’s Corinthian has an undeniable style. Dressed in creamy whites, sporting pale hair and a pair of ever-present sunglasses, the Nightmare cuts a fine figure, whether in the pages of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comic or as played by Boyd Holbrook in Netflix’s adaptation. It’s a look so together that you may miss his most defining feature: The mouths where his eyes should be.

As a rogue nightmare, AWOL from the Dreaming in Dream’s absence and serial killing his way through the waking world, the Corinthian is a mess of menace and charm. And that required Holbrook to play the role in a way he had never been asked to before.

“I think there was a sexuality to the Corinthian that I… had never wanted to do, nor asked to do,” Holbrook tells Polygon. “So that was definitely something that was uncomfortable in the beginning that I had to work my way into.”

Holbrook notes that he and the rest of the cast were instructed to make their respective characters their own and not fall into the trap of feeling too penned into how the character had to work. Instead, the most important thing was that they “play a rooted real person.” Of course, with the Corinthian’s eyes being the stuff of nightmares, he also had to work his way into it without the aid of the windows of the soul.

“I really thought that I would have to do, or I [would feel] some obligation to bring something else to the role that wasn’t on the page,” Holbrook says. “But Neil Gaiman and Allan Heinberg, our showrunner, really just put me at ease with that. Because rather than a hindrance, it’s more of a weapon.”

It’s an easy magnetism that oozes out of Holbrook’s performance, a natural relaxedness that still manages to imbue every moment he’s on screen with threat. With his eyes somewhere behind the side-paneled sunglasses, every act of kindness seems tinged by a bit of malice. He is cool and composed perhaps precisely because he knows he is untouchable in almost every way that counts.

“I think it would basically paralyze anybody,” Holbrook says. “Once the glasses come off and you see the teeth for eyes, I think it would just kind of shell-shock people.”

Mariah J's Super, Soulful, Sexy Story - WYSO

Dayton keeps producing musical talent. You can pretty much count on it, like the changing of the seasons. This little region of ours keeps churning out potential stars.

The newest hopeful contender is singer Mariah J.

In her words, Mariah, along with being a vocalist, is also a “songwriter, songwriter, cultural worker/strategist and teaching artist.”

Mariah continued to explain her artistic identity, “I would also consider myself an artist disrupter; someone who uses their craft as a means of rebellion. I’m a truth teller and a storyteller. “ Self-awareness and confidence. Tools of champions.

Mariah J should win something with her debut album, Unfolding. Awards, and/or your hearts. It’s an exceptional album, one that you should listen to especially if you’re a fan of R&B.

When asked to describe her first LP, Mariah said, “My album is a culmination of lessons learned over the past five years of my life. For example, I’ve learned over and over again the lesson of letting go and accepting change through the loss of my brother, a job, a relationship, and multiple friendships.

Everything must change and that’s just the constant unfolding of life. It’s like... feel your feelings, retrieve the lesson, and keep going. Throughout the album I confront pain from my past and the past of my family and allow for acceptance to reign supreme. I don’t shame or blame anyone for the experiences, I just allow the truth to be what it is.”

Mariah worked with several producers on this nine track collection: Michael Breslin (Sam’s Interlude, Breakin’ Bottles, Sweet Gyal/Sew the Clouds), Son Swift (Love Bomb), SliQue (Letting Go), Vintage Vibes (Adversity Sonnets, Peace Be Still), and E-blakk (L.T.S.O.T.).

If you’re intrigued, and you want to see Mariah perform live, she gave out the when and where to do so; “My next performance is PorchFest on August 20th at 605 McLain beginning at 6pm. Follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and/or Facebook to keep up with my fall line-up!“

In closing, Mariah J left us all with this message of gratitude and hope, “Thank you to anyone who supports me and the music I create. I’ve had over two thousand streams so far since I’ve released the album on June 24th which is growth for me as a musician. I hope ya’ll rock with me forever because ya’ll have my love forever; this is just the beginning.”

I agree. And I think we all will really soon.

Unfolding is available on all streaming platforms; Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, Amazon music, YouTube, etc. https://album.link/Unfolding-MariahJ

TikTok's New 'Siren Eyes' Trend Is a Sexy Take on the Smoky Eye - STYLECASTER

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, STYLECASTER may receive an affiliate commission.

In Greek mythology a siren is a “temptress” or a “humanlike being with an alluring voice” who “lured mariners to destruction by singing.” In 2022, women are often called sirens for being so enticing, it’s almost dangerous. Think Old Hollywood stars Dorothy Dandridge and Rita Hayworth with their dramatic eye makeup. Now, TikTokers are evoking these sultry looks with what they’re calling “siren eyes.” What sounds like a complicated makeup look is actually pretty do-able at home. But you’re going to need a good black eyeliner.

We first saw anyone talk specifically about siren eyes when TikToker @DanielleMarcan gave a tutorial after fans wouldn’t stop asking about her eyeliner. A whopping 7.8 million people have watched her video, in which she shows how she makes her round eyes look more almond-shaped. That’s the key to this trend and why celebs such as Bella Hadid, Megan Fox, Alexa Demie and Lily Rose-Depp easily nail the look. Their eye shape is made for it.

That doesn’t mean those with sleepy eyes or round eyes or any other shape can’t fake the look. TikTokers @kamgregory and @makeupandmeg have great tutorials, too. Actor @jilliannicolesmith showed the stark difference between doe eyes and siren eyes with a trending sound from Mean Girls.

Each creator has a slightly different way of creating siren eyes but many of the basic steps are the same. First, grab your favorite black pencil eyeliner. We like Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner ($34 at Nordstrom) and Maybelline New York Master Precise Skinny Gel Eyeliner ($7.98 at Amazon ) depending on your budget. You’ll also need some makeup remover or micellar water, black or brown eyeshadow and black liquid liner.

First, use the pencil eyeliner to draw the start of a cat-eye coming out the side of your eye, connecting the line to the middle of the top lash line only. Take a flat blending brush with a small amount of black or cool-toned brown eyeshadow and blend the eyeliner along the line. Use makeup remove to clean up the line as needed.

Use the same pencil liner or black liquid liner to apply a small line from the inner corner across the lash line just to wear your lashes start. (It’s the smallest line ever.) Then, flick downwards and extend the inner corner. You might need to clean this up too. Be sure to keep the middle of your upper lash line free of any eyeliner. You can get creative with another neutral shadow shade over the black line and under the lash line or just skip right to mascara. Be sure to focus on the outer lashes for that sultry look.

Smoky eye, who?!

See Jennifer Lopez In A Sexy Video Wearing A Zebra Stripe Bikini Top - Giant Freakin Robot

By David Harrison | Published

jennifer lopez

Jennifer Lopez is having a pretty big summer. For starters, she got married in Las Vegas which would be enough for just about anyone in terms of moments. But she’s also out there performing as well and the consummate entertainer really never seems to slow down even in the slightest. It’s one thing that’s kept her at the top of her game going on decades now. And from that perspective, it doesn’t look like the 53-year-old has any plans to tick down the pace. Far from it. In fact, things might only be ramping up. Recently, she took to Instagram to give a clip of a recent performance and it had the stunner up on stage in a big way. From the looks of the energy, the style, the outfit, and really everything else, Jennifer Lopez will be here for years to come, entertaining fans on the biggest stages. Check out what she posted on Instagram.

The Jennifer Lopez Instagram post had her paying giving thanks for a wonderful night spent out at the LuisaViaRoma event for UNICEF.which went down on Monday evening. It was a star-studded affair highlighted, in part, by the Jennifer Lopez performance. In her Instagram message, Lopez says (translated), “What a night!!! Thanks Capri !! I love you”. And there were plenty of folks who rang expressing the love right back. As of this writing, the Instagram post had almost 831,000 likes on the platform. That’s a huge number though for Jennifer Lopez is something she’s come to be used to.

It’s because Jennifer Lopez is one of the most-followed celebrities and accounts on Instagram right now. Her 219 million followers rank her 16th in the world, right behind Taylor Swift with 220 million. This kind of engagement and buy-in from a fanbase is nearly unprecedented and it’s easy to see why when a sexy video like this goes up there would be a massive number of folks ringing in their love and support. From an Instagram perspective, this is the whole goal. And Jennifer Lopez appears happy to keep the party rolling on in that way. Again, it’s why even when some other folks are counting the years until retirement, Jennifer Lopez is flinging herself around on stage like a woman half her age. It’s really remarkable.

Of course, as mentioned, Jennifer Lopez’s other big summer event was the surprise, somewhat shotgun, wedding to Ben Affleck that happened a couple of weeks ago. The pair had eschewed a big, celebrity, and paparazzi-filled event and instead took to the Las Vegas strip to get married in a chapel there. With some of their respective children in tow and few else, the couple said their vows and tied the knot. Apparently, they had wanted an Elvis impersonator to do the deed, but The King wasn’t available on the night they showed up. Regardless, the high-profile couple who recently reignited their past relationship, appears to now be in it for the long haul. In this way, it seems like Jennifer Lopez is just getting started.
