TikTok's New 'Siren Eyes' Trend Is a Sexy Take on the Smoky Eye - STYLECASTER

In Greek mythology a siren is a “temptress” or a “humanlike being with an alluring voice” who “lured mariners to destruction by singing.” In 2022, women are often called sirens for being so enticing, it’s almost dangerous. Think Old Hollywood stars Dorothy Dandridge and Rita Hayworth with their dramatic eye makeup. Now, TikTokers are evoking these sultry looks with what they’re calling “siren eyes.” What sounds like a complicated makeup look is actually pretty do-able at home. But you’re going to need a good black eyeliner.

We first saw anyone talk specifically about siren eyes when TikToker @DanielleMarcan gave a tutorial after fans wouldn’t stop asking about her eyeliner. A whopping 7.8 million people have watched her video, in which she shows how she makes her round eyes look more almond-shaped. That’s the key to this trend and why celebs such as Bella Hadid, Megan Fox, Alexa Demie and Lily Rose-Depp easily nail the look. Their eye shape is made for it.

That doesn’t mean those with sleepy eyes or round eyes or any other shape can’t fake the look. TikTokers @kamgregory and @makeupandmeg have great tutorials, too. Actor @jilliannicolesmith showed the stark difference between doe eyes and siren eyes with a trending sound from Mean Girls.

Each creator has a slightly different way of creating siren eyes but many of the basic steps are the same. First, grab your favorite black pencil eyeliner. We like Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner ($34 at Nordstrom) and Maybelline New York Master Precise Skinny Gel Eyeliner ($7.98 at Amazon ) depending on your budget. You’ll also need some makeup remover or micellar water, black or brown eyeshadow and black liquid liner.

First, use the pencil eyeliner to draw the start of a cat-eye coming out the side of your eye, connecting the line to the middle of the top lash line only. Take a flat blending brush with a small amount of black or cool-toned brown eyeshadow and blend the eyeliner along the line. Use makeup remove to clean up the line as needed.

Use the same pencil liner or black liquid liner to apply a small line from the inner corner across the lash line just to wear your lashes start. (It’s the smallest line ever.) Then, flick downwards and extend the inner corner. You might need to clean this up too. Be sure to keep the middle of your upper lash line free of any eyeliner. You can get creative with another neutral shadow shade over the black line and under the lash line or just skip right to mascara. Be sure to focus on the outer lashes for that sultry look.

'Love Island USA's' Sexy Covers of '90s Pop Songs Will Make Millennials Feel Ancient - Decider

So you’re watching Love Island USA Season 4 on Peacock, and Brazilian hunk Felipe is putting the moves on single hottie Courtney — and she is reciprocating every single one of those moves. They just had a steamy moment during a kissing game and it looks like things are heating up again. The two get closer and closer as a seductive piano tune plays. And as these two gorgeous people finally lock lips after a a week of tension, you realize… you know this song. Oh my god, you know this song!

Yeah — it’s a sultry cover of “Sex & Candy,” Marcy Playground’s infamous nugget of jangly, non sequitur rock. And instead of focusing on what Love Island wants you to focus on (sexy people doing sexy things, especially sexy things that maybe they shouldn’t be doing), you spend the rest of this makeout sesh trying to rid your brain of the image of that nerdy lead singer poking his head out of a Beetlejuice landscape as a tarantula meanders about.

Such is the curse of being an old millennial watching Love Island USA!

Most of Love Island’s needle drops are fine. Hell, some of them are great! Lizzo and Kim Petras? That’s the perfect summer soundtrack to a summer series. The majority of the songs are the kind of generic club bops and sensitive ballads (meaning affordable) that you hear nonstop on shows like Selling Sunset. And then, usually once an episode, there’s a song cue that’s so baffling that it makes every single recoupling decision seem sane by comparison. Deb: why are you still with Jesse? He’s never going to put you first!

Take, for example, the repurposing of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” for Episode 9’s recap.

This version from German composer duo known as 2WEI slows down one of Britney’s best bops and runs it through what I can only describe as a vampire filter. That’s also how I describe that “Sex & Candy” cover, too. Both of those songs sound as if they’re being sung by Drusilla from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, perhaps in a mausoleum illuminated only by dragon-shaped candles.

The vampire filter gets applied to “Ready or Not” by the Fugees (or the Delfonics, a cover of a cover), also in Episode 9.

The arrival of studs Bryce and Jeff is scored by a dark, aggressive version of the R&B classic that makes it sound like the singer Esthero is out for blood (which would make sense, because vampires).

But not every ’90s song is reimagined as a slow dance moment for Blade’s vampire nightclub. Look at this getting-ready montage from Episode 2. Shots of the islanders prepping for a night of drinking and iffy decisions with…

… a hypnotic dance cover of “Lovefool” by The Cardigans. This sugary ballad from Swedish rock group (and I’m using the term “rock” generously) is almost unrecognizable in this form. It sounds like the kind of song that would be played in a club that the members of the Cardigans would never go to, primarily because they’re all in bed by 9 p.m.

But of all of these covers, there’s only one that matches “Sex & Candy’s” WTF-ness. After a shocking recoupling, Mady’s trying to reckon with the fact that Andy ditched her out of nowhere to pair up with Sydney. The other girls are trying to comfort Mady and, just like in the last three minutes of every episode of Full House, some sensitive piano music comes in. But this isn’t just any sensitive piano music. … Ace of Base’s irresistible Europop uptempo earworm “The Sign.” As sung by Katie Boeck, this take on “The Sign” comes close to Sarah McLachlan levels of sensitive sentimentality. Like I said earlier, I don’t need to be reminded of Ace of Base during this moment. I want to feel what Mady is feeling in this moment, not spend the entire scene struggling to remember what the hell the two guys from Ace of Base even did (other than gesticulate during music videos).

The problem is that I tune into Love Island USA to not think a single thought, but I’m overcome with way too many thoughts every single time the show unleashes one of these reimagined ’90s tunes. Does the show think they’re fooling me into thinking “Sex & Candy” is actually a sexy song? Are they saving tons of money on licensing by opting for the doom and gloom version of “Toxic”? Do the kids even know who Ace of Base is? Am I old? I’m old!

I know that last part is true because a number of the YouTube videos for these covers have millions of views. In a way they’re as popular as the originals were with a chunk of this generation, and my old ass is five years late to the party and only hearing the song on Love Island USA. I know I’m old, Love Island. I don’t need the music cues to remind me of that, not when literally everything else about the show already does! I’m old and I’m spending my adulthood watching 20-somethings in bathing suits kiss everything with a pulse on Love Island. Oh my god.

But, y’know, whatever — these moments of audio incongruity (with a dash of existential panic) add a layer of bizarre surprise to every episode of Love Island USA, and I’m fine with that. Now I just wonder which cover I’ll hear next, a party rock remix of Hootie’s “Let Her Cry” or a sexy, sexy rendition of Deadeye Dick’s “New Age Girl.”

With a caption to her post that reads, “Do you hate people making a fuss getting into cold water?” Elizabeth Hurley demonstrated to her fans that she hasn’t lost her sense of adventure. The 57-year-old appears to be having a great day in the water as she blows kisses to the camera and her 2.4 million followers on Instagram. Looking like the model may freeze as she slides into the water, Hurley provides a significant number of cheeky looks set against a backdrop of the song “Back Where I Belong” by English singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti. Hurley looks like she is enjoying her time in the water as if she, too, is back where she belongs.

Elizabeth Hurley became very popular in the 1990s after her starring role as Vanessa Kensington in 1997’s Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. Before that, she was often discussed in the media as Hugh Grant’s girlfriend, including many pundits picking apart the fashion choices she made throughout this time. In particular, Hurley once wore a black Versace dress to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral alongside beau Hugh Grant, a dress that CNN reports was scandalous at the time. Since then, Hurley has made her mark in the fashion world in addition to her acting credits.

After her time appearing with Mike Myers in the Austin Powers franchise, Elizabeth Hurley took to more film roles. She had a memorable appearance in the Ron Howard film EDtv, costarred with Matthew Perry in the critically planned Serving Sara, and played the Devil opposite Brendan Fraser in the 2000 remake of Bedazzled. Her film roles started drying up, so she took her talents to television. She had a recurring role in the original iteration of Gossip Girl, starred as Queen Helena in The Royals, and Morgan le Fay in Marvel’s Runaways.

Since Runaways, Elizabeth Hurley’s acting career seems to have hit a roadblock of sorts. Primarily known these days for her social media presence rather than her acting prowess, it doesn’t appear that Hurley has a lot on the horizon. IMD b reflects a few projects in the works with Hurley as a costar, including Welcome to Georgia, which was going to star New Girl’s Hannah Simone and Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam, but the pilot got the thumbs down from CBS. Also on the agenda for Hurley is Christmas in the Caribbean and The Piper, but none of these upcoming projects seem to have a release date yet. Hopefully, Hurley’s sexy Instagram videos can continue entertaining audiences until her subsequent film roles are revealed.

The character of Spider-Man first appeared in the Amazing Fantasy #15 comic book published on August 1, 1962 – making this date known as Spider-Man Day. For such a special occasion, there’s no better way to celebrate Peter Parker than to look back at the three sexy actors who put on the tight Spidey suit in live-action adaptations over the years.

The OG actor who turned Spider-Man into a blockbuster superhero character for the big screen was Tobey Maguire. Directed by Sam Raimi, Maguire perfectly encapsulated Peter Parker’s geeky disposition while also delivering great action shots for the teenage vigilante. 2002’s Spider-Man, 2004’s Spider-Man 2, and 2007’s Spider-Man 3 were all commercial successes that truly catapulted this franchise into what it still is today.

After Raimi’s trilogy ran its course and Maguire went on to focus on other projects, Sony Pictures rebooted the franchise with director Marc Webb and cast Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. This new series of films, dubbed The Amazing Spider-Man, was also meant to be a trilogy. However, these movies weren’t as well received by critics and audiences as Raimi’s trilogy, which resulted in the studio cutting it short after just two films.

Last but certainly not least, Sony rebooted the Spider-Man franchise once again in 2017 with director Jon Watts – this time having the character join in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From the start, the Homecoming trilogy and Tom Holland’s performance as Peter Parker were unanimously praised by fans who felt like the character was done justice on the big screen. In the 2021 treequel Far From Home, all three actors who played a live-action Spider-Man reunited as part of the MCU’s multiverse storyline.
